    Dental Care

Canine dental care is a crucial aspect of pet maintenance that can easily be overlooked. It is particularly important to prioritize this area of care for breeds prone to dental disease, such as Greyhounds and small-breed dogs, as well as for dogs with a history of dental health issues. In addition to regular dental cleanings at the veterinary office, it is recommended to provide multiple types of at-home dental care.

Brushing your dog's teeth should become a routine part of your pet care regimen, akin to brushing your own teeth. Wet the toothbrush and apply a layer of appropriate toothpaste, then proceed to brush your dog's teeth, even if they do not allow brushing the inside of their teeth. There is no need to rinse the toothpaste out of their mouth after brushing.

It is advisable to aim for brushing your dog's teeth 2-3 times per week. However, if time permits and your dog finds this activity enjoyable, daily brushing would be even more beneficial. If there are concerns about your dog potentially biting during toothbrushing, explore these alternative options:

    1. Brushing your dog's teeth with canine-specific toothpaste.
    2. Incorporating dental powder into your dog's meals.
    3. Trying a dental water additive.
    4. Consulting your veterinarian about prescription dental foodoptions.
    5. Providing your dog with dental treats.
    6. Ensuring regular dental cleanings for your dog.

By implementing these measures, you can significantly contribute to maintaining your dog's oral health and overall wellbeing.
